Perfect White Pants For Every Body Type

PEAR SHAPE | Ann Taylor Loft: ($59)
DON’T: Wear front pockets, buttons and pleats. This will add unnecessary volume. Pants that narrow at the knee put an emphasis on the hips and draw the eye up to the problem area. Pants without rear pockets create length and width at the hips.

DO: Wear flat front wide leg pants. Tab pockets on rear gives the illusion of a butt lift because the pockets sit high and they create shape.

FLAT BUTT | Arden B.: ($69)
DON’T: Wear straight leg pants. This will accentuate flatness and give more of a boy/less feminine shape. Stay away from high waisted pants as it automatically flattens the butt. Stay away from slice and chino pockets as it draws attention to a flat butt.

DO: Wear wide waistband pants. This creates fullness because of the extra seam, it transitions from the waste to the butt. Tab front accentuates the waist and trouser cut creates the “illusion” of curves.

PLUS SIZE | Ashley Stewart: ($29)
DONT: Wear capri’s above the knee, tapered styles or big/wide pockets. This creates unnecessary volume.

DO: Always wear a shaper. This gives you support and smoothes out the look. A mid waistband is most flattering.

TALL & BOY-SHAPED | Express: ($79.50)
DON’T: Proper length in proportion is key (GAP, Express, Banana Republic and others offer multiple lengths). Be careful of too much Lycra which can create the cling of a legging.

DO: Wear larger pockets that add fullness and volume to the rear. Choose pants with thicker fabric like denim and keep the waste lower, this reduces the lanky look.

BELLY BULGE | GAP: ($59)
DONT: Wear maternity pants as the mommy weight is coming off. Low waist is very uncomfortable and is not flattering. Don’t try to camouflage with a belt.

DO: Drawstring pants with adjustable lengths are great for transition post pregnancy. Cargo style pants take emphasis away from mid section and can be worn for both work and play. Relaxed fabrics work best for new moms.
